I have no confidence in Bike Pro Kings Heath any longer, despite being a once good customer of theirs. but this should have been done before giving the bike back. I got straight back on the phone to complain again and the manager did offer to retape the bars and reindex the gears etc. I had to clean the whole bike to properly remove the grease and black marks they’d left behind.
I had to fix all the gears (front & back dérailleur) because they’d not been readjusted and rubbed in every gear - 3. I had to re-position all of my bike computer monitors as they no longer worked because they’d been knocked about - 2. Unfortunately, I had to take the bike because I needed it for the next day but once I got the bike home there were more problems: 1. That’s just not good enough in my opinion. I immediately lodged my disapproval with the owner who wasn’t very apologetic stating that they’d been busy. I refused to accept the bike in this condition and only then was it cleaned up (not very well). My white saddle and bar tape look completely ruined. It was covered in grease, oil and black marks from top to bottom. I returned to pick up the bike after a week and it was presented to me in a quite disgraceful condition. I had a really bad experience here (I should have known better as I’d had problems here before). New freewheel, new pedals, adjusted brakes and a polished frame and I’ve been riding off into the sunset ever since. But this wasn’t the reason for my visit, I just wanted my bike to be roadworthy again, and that’s what resulted. It really is a good shop if you want to spend an afternoon enthusing about bikes and bike mechanics, bike stuff and how many miles you’ve done in the last week. I think they sensed from the bike I brought in that I wasn’t a bona fide cyclist, so I was treated with a slight superior cyclist disregard. So before this became more comical and my whole bike fell apart mid-ride, I took it back to bike pro, and again they looked unimpressed at what a pathetic bike I had, but swiftly took it off and nursed it back to health.
On Your Bike is a family owned business which has been serving the cyclists of London and Birmingham since 1983. Well I could until I battled up a steep hill and my pedal decided to snap. They swiftly and efficiently replaced it with a new one while I was there looking bemused at the amount of shiny bike stuff that you can spend your money on. So I took it off to bike pro, after my home crash course in bmx parts that came to nothing. For all of you who don’t know, it’s one of the critical pieces that allows you to turn the wheels around. However I do have an incredibly beat-up bmx that has valiantly ploughed through all sorts of unforgiving terrain for many years.
The café is not trading currently but the workshop operates as normal.I’m not going to pretend I know a great deal about bikes. They would like to offer front line NHS staff a free pick up & drop off service for their bikes. It would be helpful if you contacted the shop before going there. They are following guidelines and asking people to wait outside if there is someone else in the shop. Ladypool Cycles are open on the following days: Monday-Thursday: 11 am to 6 pm, Friday: 2pm to 6pm (closed 27 March), Saturday: 10am to 6pm and Sunday: 11.30am to 4pm. At present we are allowed out on our bikes and a couple of the local bike shops have reported an increase in requests for bike repairs and even the loan of bicycle pumps.īike Pro in Kings Heath are open for business, but their opening hours may be shortened, so give them a ring (01).
